More Prizes!!
Fellow Losers:
There is a new contest going on that will last 2 weeks. If you have more than 20 lbs to lose by the dude ranch you need to lose 3 lbs in the next 2 weeks. If you have less than 20 lbs to lose you need to lose 2 lbs. If you are able to do this...you will win $50 CASH!!!!
Also, for the people who weren't able to lose the desired amount last week to win the gift certificate, it's not too late! Let's say you only lost 1.5 lbs and you needed to lose 2lbs. Well, if you lose 2.5lbs or 3.5lbs (depending on how much you need to lose in the next 2 weeks) and can make up for the half of a pound you didn't lose this week you can redeem yourself and still win the gift card. Papa REALLY wants us all to get in shape so he is really rewarding our good work.
Good luck again to all of you!
Also, the percentages will be posted tomorrow under "the score" at the top of the page. Check it out to see how your competition is doing.

The Competitors
If you want to see who your competition is check out "the score" on the top of the blog. It takes you to a different page where I will be posting the weekly weight loss percentages.
Also, for any of you that didn't get my email about the contest this week here it is...
If your goal is to lose 10 lbs or more over all you need to lose at least 2 lbs this week. If your goal is to lose less than 10 lbs you need to lose at least 1 lb. If you are able to do this you will receive a $25 gift card to Wal-mart or Target. You pick. Just make sure you let me know which one you want.
There is going to be some sort of contest/prize ALMOST every week. Not everyone will always have a chance to win like this week. Papa just wanted to start of the competition with a bang!!
Good luck!!!

THE PECK BIGGEST LOSER IS BACK!!!
That’s right folks, we are at it again! This time with new rules and many more prizes!! The dude ranch is right around the corner and I know we are all dying to look good in our swimming suits, and for the family picture. So, we’re having a little contest to motivate us all. There won’t be weekly goals that you have to follow. This is purely a weight loss competition. You decide how and when you want to lose the weight, and Papa has so generously decided to reward us!
Here’s how it works:
This Friday weigh yourself. You will have until Sunday to get on your computer and e-mail me your weight. If you are terribly uncomfortable telling me how much you weigh then tell your spouse so that someone besides you knows. However, if you don’t tell me your weight you will be in charge of figuring out your weight loss percentage every week as well as your total weight loss percentage and sending that to me. I won’t be posting anywhere how much anyone weighs so your secret is safe with me.
Every week on Monday I will be posting on http://www.peckloser.blogspot.com/ everyone’s percentage. That way we can all keep up with how everyone is doing. I will also include the total percentage of weight loss that each individual has lost so far, so that you can see where you stand.
Since men and women lose weight much differently you will be competing with members of the same sex. That way we (women) will all feel like we have a shot at winning this.
PRIZES: Everyone will have a chance to win something. All you have to do is tell me what percentage of weight you would like to lose before the dude ranch (It has to be at least %5). If you are able to achieve that, you will win a small $ prize. The first and second place winners of both the girls and boys will win a mega $ prize. However, there is a twist. You will only receive half of it at the dude ranch. The other half you will get at Christmas IF you have kept it off. There will also be an occasionally weekly contest. So make sure you are keeping up with the blog so you know what it is.
We will be continuing the contest through Christmas. So, if you didn’t win anything at the dude ranch keep it up, you can still win something at Christmas. If you took first place at the dude ranch and you keep it up you can take first place again at Christmas and win big time!
*Pregnancy Disclaimer: We know a few of you are currently pregnant and won’t be able to participate. However, since we will be having another contest until Christmas you can join in later. 6 weeks after your baby is born weigh in and join the fun!
I will be posting different healthy living ideas on the blog on a regular basis. That will include healthy, low-fat, and actually tasty recipes, exercising tips, and much more. If you have anything you would like me to post e-mail it to me and I will post it right away. Papa says, “We want your gimmicks, but we don’t want bulimics.”
Hopefully this contest can get us all a little more physically fit. I know that the real reward isn’t the money, but the healthy lifestyle we can gain. Hopefully all of us that weigh more than we should will participate. Papa says if you don’t, you will be the biggest loser (and not in weight)!
Hope you see you all at the dude ranch looking nice and trim!

Collision sends man to hospital
Yesterday Katie, Connor, Garrett, Abby, and Katie's friend Kristin got in a horrible car wreck right by the mall in St. George. Here is the newspaper report.
ST. GEORGE- A male driver was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center on Tuesday following a head-on collision that damaged three cars at the intersection of Red Cliffs and Mall drives. The man was driving a white Honda Civic east on Red Cliffs Drive when his car collided with a gray Ford Focus driven by Katie Sullivan, of Cedar City. The westbound Focus was turning left onto Mall Drive from Red Cliffs."I was in the turning lane, and the light turned yellow, " Sullivan said. "I saw the white car ... I guess it sped up to beat the red light. "Officer Tyrell Bangerter said no citations have been issued in the accident. "It's still under investigation until I can talk to the other driver." he said Bangerter said he would take measurments of the skid marks to help determine what happened. "I've got the scene marked with orange paint, but where it (traffic) is kind of busy right now, I'll wait until it kind of dies down" he said. Sullivan, her friend and three cousins from Salt Lake City were on their way to the Red Cliffs Mall after spending the after spending the afternoon at Sand Hollow Reservoir. "The guy in the other car- he hit his head, ...He was bleeding a little bit from a cut," Kristen Marchant, one of Sullivan's passengers said. "I saw the airbags go off and that;s all I remember," said Abigail Chamberlain. Connor Peck said he burned his bare feet on the pavement after getting out of the car, but that no one in the Focus was seriously injured beyond "seltbelt burn." Becky Richards, of St. George, said she was in line behind the Focus at the stoplight and that her car sustained scratches in the accident. "SOme debris hit our hood. It's like his (the white car's) toolbox exploded," she said. "All of sudden you saw her (Sullivan go through the light and then all of a sudden there were two spinning vehicles."It was a scary, scary accident! But thank goodness everyone is ok.
Katie is at the doctors right now because of her foot, but everyone else is fine. Connor ego is hurt more than anything. He can't believe that they would put what he said about his feet in the newspaper.

I thought it would be fun to share recipes with each other. I'm definitely in need of some new ones around here. I know we all have "healthy" goals in mind right now, but if you have a favorite that's not so healthy leave it anyway. I'll post this once a month and hopefully we can start a good collection of Peck Family recipes. ~NicoleFriday, August 29

New Challenge
After talking to my dad we changed the new competition a bit. This is a competition for everyone. You do not need to lose weight to be in this competition!
First everyone needs to pick their goal. The goals need to be realistic (i.e. my dad’s can’t be to lose 5 pounds) but also achievable. Some goals could be to lose weight, be a certain dress/pant size, not drink caffeine or pop anymore, etc. You get to come up with your own goal. Whoever is going to participate needs to post their goal on the blog. The goals need to be met by the Christmas party which means we have 4 months to reach them. Also, there can be multiple winners. Whoever reaches their goal will get a prize!
Everyone needs to post their goal by Monday August 25. Every week you will need to post what you have done to achieve your goal. One week before the Christmas party everyone will need to post whether or not they met their goal. The prizes will be brought to the party or mailed to you if you cannot make it to the party.
I hope everyone will participate. I think we all owe it to ourselves to.

Who's up for a Challenge?
Alright, here's the deal. I desperately need to loose some more weight. I know there are a bunch of you out there that feel the same way. I am looking to start another little competition. It would only be until Papa and Grandmas Christmas party. I'm just wondering if there is anyone out there who would like to do this with me. Let me know and I will get something going. Oh, and there will be a prize!
